Prep guard Vaughn picks UNLV over UK, others

February 11, 2014

Rashad Vaughn — the top available guard in the Class of 2014 — announced his commitment to UNLV on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 prospect from Findlay Prep (Nev.) picked the Runnin' Rebels over Kentucky, Iowa State, North Carolina and Kansas. UK was viewed as a major long shot going into Tuesday's announcement. Vaughn never visited Lexington, and UNLV and Iowa State were the only two finalists that hosted him for an official visit.

Scout.com considers Vaughn the No. 13 overall prospect in the senior class. Huntington Prep combo guard JaQuan Lyle is now the only uncommitted backcourt player in the Scout.com Top 100. He is not being recruited by UK.
