Cement as an economic bellwether

Cement is a nice economic indicator. Made from super-heated limestone and other substances, it's the binding component of concrete, one of the most common man-made materials in the world. Cement use, generally, goes up and down with the economy. There are solid signs now that cement is on the rise as shipments and prices are up.
