Tip leads to Lexington fugitive's arrest

February 14, 2014

A Lexington man who was wanted on a robbery charge was arrested Friday afternoon in Harrison County.

Police, responding to a tip, arrested Eric Nelson, 35, about noon Friday. Nelson was this week’s “featured fugitive” in Lexington’s Most Wanted, a service of the Office of the Fayette County Sheriff and the Herald-Leader. He was featured on Kentucky.com and later in a segment on WKYT-TV.

Nelson is charged with first-degree robbery and failing to comply with the sex-offender registry, a charge out of Boyle County.

Maj. Jay Pittman of the Fayette County sheriff’s office said he received a tip that Nelson might be in Boyle County with his mother, so Pittman called the Boyle County sheriff’s office. Nelson wasn’t at his mother’s house when authorities checked, but deputies received another tip that led them to another home, Pittman said.

Deputies went into the home, found Nelson lying in bed and arrested him, Pittman said.

Earlier this week, deputies arrested Lilia Ridgell, 55, who also was listed on Most Wanted.
