A 23-year-old Lexington man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Fayette District Court to charges that he raped and sodomized an underage girl.

Christian Richard Warta waived arraignment and entered the plea through his attorney.

Police arrested Warta on Monday on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy stemming from an alleged attack in March 2012, court documents say.

Police said in court filings that Warta posed as a minor on a social networking website. Police say he held the girl down and sexually assaulted her, then took her back to her home.

Warta is due back in district court Feb. 28.

He also faces a separate sodomy charge in Fayette Circuit Court. In that case, a Fayette grand jury indicted Warta in February 2013 for sodomizing a victim who was "physically helpless."

Police charged in the case that Warta assaulted an Eastern Kentucky University student in September 2012 in Fayette County.

According to court filings, the student, who knew Warta, told police that he texted her and invited her to go drinking with him.

The girl told officers that after going to a river bank and drinking a few beers with Warta, she awoke at a home to find him assaulting her.
