A man was in serious condition after being hit by a car early Wednesday.

Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said the man walked into traffic on North Broadway, near West Sixth Street, attempting to cross the street, when he was hit by a Lincoln Town Car.

Roberts said the man, whose name was not released, was not in the crosswalk. She didn't have an update on his condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Roberts said no charges are expected to be filed, because it appeared to have been an accident.
