Business awards: Week of Feb. 24

Cheddar's has been voted No. 1 among the best restaurants in the nation according to Zagat and Consumer Reports. Cheddar's has two Lexington locations: 3094 Helmsdale Place and 3604 Walden Drive. In 2013, Nation's Restaurant News voted Cheddar's one of its 2013 Golden Chain Award recipients. In 2012, Cheddar's swept the Zagat ratings for full-service restaurants, ranking first overall and dominating the categories of cuisine, food, décor, and facilities. In 2012, as they had done in 2009, Consumer Reports readers voted Cheddar's their number one choice for casual dining. According to Nation's Restaurant News, Cheddar's also leads the way in casual dining performance and was the fastest-growing full-service chain last year. Cheddar's in Lexington is owned and operated by Greer Cos., a family owned, hospitality and commercial real estate development company based in Lexington.

■ Selected Independent Funeral Homes has named Ann Yager McCrosky of Danville as the 2014 recipient of its NextGen Professional of the Year Award. McCrosky was honored at a ceremony at the Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort and Spa in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten.

The award is designed to highlight career achievements, community/organization involvement and awards/achievements of funeral professionals younger than 50.

McCrosky is the fourth recipient of the award, and was honored for her compassion, commitment and dedication to her profession and community as noted by supporting letters of recommendation in her application package. She is vice president and secretary of Stith Funeral Homes in Danville.

Floor Coverings International of Central Kentucky has earned the service industry's Angie's List Super Service Award.

"Only about 5 percent of the companies Floor Coverings International competes with in Central Kentucky are able to earn our Super Service Award," said Angie's List founder Angie Hicks. "It's a mark of consistently great customer service."
