The case against a man facing rape, kidnapping and other charges in the abduction of a woman will go to a Fayette County grand jury.

Police said Dominic Parico Coffey forced his way into the woman's car at a gas station, drove her to another location and assaulted her. The grand jury will review the initial charges against Coffey. In addition to kidnapping and rape, he has been charged with first-degree sodomy and first-degree robbery.

Coffey's case was waived to the grand jury Monday morning during a hearing in Fayette District Court.

Police said the abduction occurred in the pre-dawn hours of Dec. 17 at a Speedway gas station near Versailles Road and Alexandria Drive.

Police said the woman later managed to escape and made her way to the Bordeaux Drive area, where she began knocking on doors and asking for help. Police were then called.
