Final bits
of fall blown away

February 24, 2014

Leaves were flying as a crew of more than 30 Lexington Streets & Roads employees spent the morning cleaning leaves and debris from the median on Richmond Rd. from Hanover Ave. to Shriners Lane in Lexington, Ky., Monday, February 24, 2014.

Ward Higgins, a senior equipment operator, said they came out in force today to minimize the traffic impact since one lane had to be closed. Bad weather in the fall and winter had forced the division to put off this effort until today. They had more than 15 employees using gas-powered leaf blowers to blow the leaves into the road where they were then picked up by a crew operating a large vacuum.
