Bank of America is successful bidder for undeveloped tracts of Brannon Crossing

As expected, Bank of America was the successful bidder Wednesday on undeveloped tracts in the Brannon Crossing shopping center that were sold as part of foreclosure actions.

One tract was sold for $1.5 million, a second for $1,300,001, and a third for $431,000, said Loren "Squirrel" Carl, U.S. marshal for the Eastern Kentucky division of U.S. District Court.

Another tract that was scheduled to be sold had to be pulled from the auction because of incomplete paperwork, Carl said.

Carl oversaw the auction at the Jessamine County Courthouse in Nicholasville. Bank of America held mortgages on the properties and had made known its intention to buy the land in a complaint against the city of Nicholasville and others filed Friday in U.S. District Court.

The bank claims that the city overstepped the authority of its own nuisance ordinance. The bank claims that the city has billed it for more than $39,000 to take care of excessive weeds, construction debris and silt.

The bank says it should have received notice or a chance to do the work itself.

Representatives of the city and bank are supposed to meet to try to come to a resolution, according to a joint stipulation filed this week.

Brannon Crossing is on the east side of U.S. 27, just south of the Fayette County line, in an area of north Jessamine County that was annexed by the city of Nicholasville.
