Carroll County man charged with murder in the death of his 2-year-old son

Herald-Leader Staff ReportMarch 8, 2014

A Carroll County man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of his 2-year-old son, Kentucky State Police said Saturday in a release.

Douglas Allen, 26, of Ghent was charged in connection with the Feb. 19 death of his son, Bradley James Allen.

Amanda Foster, Douglas Allen's girlfriend and the victim's mother, called 911 at 6:43 a.m. that day and told dispatchers the child had been discovered dead in his bed.

A toxicology report showed the boy had extremely high levels of Oxycodone in his system at the time of his death.

After talking to Allen, detectives believe he allegedly gave his son a Schedule II narcotic on the night of Feb. 18 which led to the child's death.

Allen was arrested at the Kentucky State Police post in Campbellsburg. He is being lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.
