    Scott County vs. Henry Clay

    When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Twelve days after Henry Clay upset Scott County in the boys' 42nd District finals, the Blue Devils will try to pull another surprise in the 11th Region finals Tuesday night.

No. 16 Henry Clay (19-12) plays No. 4 Scott County (31-3) in the Frankfort Convention Center. The winner earns a spot in the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Sweet Sixteen in Rupp Arena next week.

Henry Clay, seeking its first region title since 2005, lost to Scott County twice in the regular season, but it ended the Cardinals' 21-game winning streak in the district finals by beating them 68-65.

"I feel like we've got a good shot," Devils Coach Daniel Brown said. "We're playing good basketball, and I don't see why we should stop now.

"We've got a big test Tuesday night, but we're definitely familiar with our opponent. It should be a fun atmosphere."

Henry Clay is led by 6-foot-5 senior Jordan Green, who totaled 42 points and 23 rebounds in region wins over Lafayette and Woodford County.

Scott County, looking for its fourth state tournament trip since 2007, is led by 6-1 senior Trent Gilbert. The Mr. Basketball finalist had 30 points in each of the Cards' region wins over Lexington Catholic and defending state champion Madison Central.

Coach Billy Hicks, who led Scott County to state titles in 1998 and 2007, said his players are battle-tested.

"These kids have had to win a lot of tough games, and I think that tough schedule made us better."

The 11th Region champ plays the 16th Region champ in the first round of the Sweet Sixteen on March 20.
