Bicyclist hit in downtown Lexington

Paramedics loaded a man into an ambulance shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday after he was injured riding his bike in downtown Lexington.


A bicyclist was rushed to the hospital about 1 p.m. Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Lexington.

It happened at East Main Street and Elm Tree Lane, according to police.

Police said the cyclist, a man, was traveling on Elm Street when he was struck by the vehicle, which was on Main Street.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said the cyclist was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for evaluation but was alert and talking.

An investigation is continuing.
