A Madison County man was killed when he was struck by a dump truck that was delivering gravel to his property.

Michael Williams died at the scene, Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said.

The accident occurred about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 1016 at Berea, Kentucky State Police said.

According to troopers at the Richmond state police post, Ronald Smith, 58, was delivering a truck load of gravel for a driveway on Williams' property.

Williams apparently fell into the path of the truck as it was backing up.

Workmen who were spreading the gravel might not have realized that Williams was behind the vehicle, Cornelison said.
