Pediatricians give away books to children

The pediatricians at the Clark Clinic are implementing a program called Reach Out and Read, a partnership between doctors and families that helps prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to read.

During regular pediatric checkups, Dr. Mary Beth Doyle and Dr. Lauren Kostelnik will give new, developmentally appropriate books to children ages 6 months through 5 years. Children could receive as many as nine books by the time they are in kindergarten.

Clark Regional Medical Center volunteers provided funding for the program. To learn more, go to Reachoutandread.org.

Clark Clinic Pediatrics is located at 225 Hospital Drive, Winchester. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (859) 737-6480.
