Lafayette's Davis narrows recruiting list to six

Lafayette High School senior basketball standout Jackson Davis has narrowed his recruitment to six schools.

Davis, a 6-foot-8 forward, earned a flurry of scholarship offers after de-committing from Rice University last month. On Wednesday, his mother said the recruitment is down to Alabama, Arizona State, Butler, Columbia, Creighton and Vanderbilt.

Davis, who was named 11th Region player of the year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday, took an official visit to Columbia before committing to Rice last fall. He has also used one of his five allotted official visits on a trip to Rice, so he has three official trips remaining for the other five schools on his list. He can take as many unofficial visits as he wants.

Louisville contacted Davis and his family earlier this month and Cardinals assistant coach Wyking Jones attended Davis' final high school game, a loss to Henry Clay in the 11th Region Tournament. U of L did not offer a scholarship, and UK never got involved in the recruitment.
