Now that the roads are no longer perpetually icy, it's time to do a little gallery hopping. Or maybe you want to go to Gallery Hop.

SPRING HIGHLIGHTS

Here are some visual art options for the spring season.

Photography at The Art Museum at the University of Kentucky. Like photography? The Art Museum at UK has two shows you'll want to see. Wide Angle: American Photographs is a look at the evolution of photography culled from the museum's extensive collection, and the final show of the Robert C. May Photography Lecture Series focuses on photojournalist Eugene Richards. (Both shows through April 27. Gallery hours: noon-5 p.m. Tue.-Thu., Sat., Sun.; noon-8 p.m. Fri. Inside the Singletary Center for the Arts, 405 Rose St. Free. (859) 257-5716. www.uky.edu/ArtMuseum.

Architecture at the Living Arts and Science Center. The Edifice in Front of Us: Explorations in Architecture and Identity pairs Lexington artist Colin Doherty and Philadelphia artist Morgan Craig's large-scale works that explore the relationships between cultures and their architecture. (Through May 8. Gallery hours: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat. LASC, 362 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Free. (859) 252-5222 or (859) 255-2284. LASClex.org.)

Gallery Hop. There are two Gallery Hops on tap for this spring, April 18 and June 20. Spring is a prime time to enjoy the evening events, when area galleries throw open their doors to show off their current exhibits. Hops now include the Lexington Downtown Trolley service and live music at numerous venues. (5-8 p.m. Various galleries downtown and in Chevy Chase. Galleryhoplex.com.)

Student shows. With the school year nearing a close, this is a popular time for art students, particularly seniors, at area colleges and universities to show off their works. Among announced student shows in the Bluegrass are:

¦ Georgetown College's Spring Graduating Senior Thesis Show. March 28-April 18. Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery, Georgetown. www.georgetowncollege.edu/galleries.

¦ Transylvania University Senior Thesis Exhibition. April 1-18. Morlan Gallery. www.transy.edu/morlan.

¦ Berea College Graduation Exhibition for Art Majors. April 13-May 4. Doris Ulmann Galleries, Berea. www.berea.edu.

¦ Transylvania University Juried Student Art Exhibition. May 2-16. Morlan Gallery. www.transy.edu/morlan.

Road trip to Cincinnati. Maybe the warmer weather entices you up Interstate 75 to the Queen City. Cincinnati's two main museums offer a broad range of art, from the works of 17th- and 18th-century French masters in Genius and Grace: François Boucher and the Generation of 1700 at the Cincinnati Art Museum (Cincinnatiartmuseum.org) to Buildering: Misbehaving the City, an exhibit of works depicting "unsanctioned use of architecture," at the Contemporary Arts Center (Contemporaryartscenter.org).
