A semi truck stuck in a ditch led to the arrest of a wanted man early Tuesday morning in Laurel County.

The sheriff's department sent officers to Chaney Ridge Road, seven miles north of London, about 3 a.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of the stuck truck.

When deputies arrived, a man ran off and was arrested after a "short scuffle," the sheriff's department said.

Officers soon learned that the suspect, Curtis Brewer, 35, of London, was wanted on a bench warrant for escaping custody Friday in Jefferson County.

According to the sheriff's department, Brewer told deputies that he found the Peterbilt truck parked in Louisville, took the vehicle and drove it to Laurel County.

Brewer was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, menacing, receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more, and second-degree escape.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff, he had been serving a 10-year prison sentence for burglary.

Brewer was being held in the Laurel County jail.
