The Cheesecake Factory's new restaurant at Fayette Mall in Lexington will begin hiring a few months before it opens in late 2014, according to a spokeswoman for the restaurant chain.

Anna Whitlow, a spokeswoman for the Calabasas, Calif.-based Cheesecake Factory, said that the Lexington restaurant will be 8,000 square feet and have 205 seats. Cheescake Factories range from 7,000 to 17,000 square feet.

The restaurant, which Lexingtonians have long wished would open a location here, will be in the center of the mall in part of the space formerly occupied by Sears.

The first step of the restaurant's recruiting process will be for applicants to complete an online application. Whitlow said that a few months before opening, the Cheesecake Factory will add a designated Lexington page on its career Web site, Cakecareers.com, where applicants should look for information.

Fayette Mall announced March 18 that the popular Swedish retailer H&M would also locate in the former Sears space in the middle of the mall. The seafood-centered fast casual restaurant Newk's Eatery and apparel retailers Clarks Shoes and Jos. A. Bank Clothiers will also open stores in the mall.
