A man was robbed and beaten with a cane early Thursday morning while walking along Harrodsburg Road, according to Lexington police.

The man was walking toward downtown when two men accosted him about 3:15 a.m. in the 2100 block of Harrodsburg Road near Central Bank, Lt. Mark Brand said.

The pair pushed the victim to the ground, took money from his wallet and then struck him with a cane, Brand said.

"I'm not clear as to whether it was his cane or their cane," he said.

The robbers ran south on Harrodsburg Road. The victim was treated at Baptist Healthcare for minor injuries to his hands and legs, Brand said.

The robbers were in their 20s.
