Car crashes into bus carrying student to Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville

A car failed to stop at a red light and collided with a school bus in Danville Friday morning, police said.

The car's driver was taken to a hospital for treatment, and one juvenile from the bus also was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Danville police.

The wreck occurred about 7:45 a.m. at West Main Street and South 3rd Street in Danville.

Daniel Cheatham, 39, of Liberty, was traveling north on South 3rd Street and failed to stop for a red light at the West Main Street intersection, police said.

Cheatham's car struck a Marion County School bus carrying three adults and one juvenile en route to the Kentucky School For the Deaf in Danville.

Emergency crews treated Cheatham at the scene before taking him the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. There was no word on his condition Friday morning.

Police are investigating.
