Lexington firefighters are trying to determine what caused a house fire early Wednesday morning on Addie Street.

Fire crews were called to the house, just off Fifth Street, about 5 a.m.

Several people apparently were living in the house, and all escaped safely, firefighters said.

There was relatively minor smoke and water damage, firefighters said.

Initial indications are that the blaze started in a crawl space, but the cause remains unknown, firefighters said.

The Red Cross is arranging shelter for residents from the house.
