Kelsey Nunley allowed three hits in seven scoreless innings and Nikki Sagermann drove in three runs with three hits as Kentucky blanked rival Louisville 5-0 in front of 1,402 fans at John Cropp Stadium.

Kentucky (29-7) won its second straight over Louisville (20-15), marking the first time UK has won consecutive games against the Cardinals in Coach Rachel Lawson's seven-year tenure.

Louisville was shut out for the sixth time this season. It marked only the fourth time the Cards have been limited to three hits or fewer.

Nunley, a sophomore, struck out five and walked two. She retired the last 13 batters she faced.

Sagermann's three hits were a season high. She doubled and hit a two-run single in chalking up her three RBI. Sagermann has an RBI in five of UK's last six games. Senior outfielder Emily Gaines extended her career-best hitting streak to nine, going 1-for-1 with two RBI and two walks.

Sophomore Sylver Samuel added a 2-for-3 day. The speedy outfielder has hits in 11 of UK's last 12 games.

Louisville starter Maryssa Becker allowed two runs — one earned — on five hits with two strikeouts in four innings. Rachel Le Coq started the fifth and she faced five batters without recording an out. Three Cats scored on two hits.

Caralisa Connell retired all six Cats she faced in the final two innings. Outfielder Kelsi Jones went 2-for-3 for Louisville, and Taner Fowler was 1-for-3.
