Fire at Lexington gas station ignites car, overhang

Fire crews remained at the scene of a fire that damaged a Speedway station on Athens-Boonesboro Road Friday morning.

Firefighters said they were alerted about 5:30 a.m. that a vehicle had caught fire under the station's overhang.

When they arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames and the fire had spread to the overhang, but the blaze was quickly brought under control.

No injuries were reported.

An engine company and a fire investigator remained at 7:30 a.m., trying to determine the cause.
