A house fire in Laurel County this week led to the arrests of three people on drug charges, authorities said.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department said county firefighters were working a house fire on Hardin Road two miles south of London about 8:40 p.m. Monday when they noticed "numerous items of suspected drug activity in plain view."

Firefighters called the sheriff's department, which sent deputies to the house.

They found almost 8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, numerous new and used needles, two glass pipes, digital scales, and plastic baggies, the sheriff's office said.

Arrested were Kenneth Wooton, 44, Jinna Moore, 25, and Melody Gilbert, 35, all of London.

The three were being held in the Laurel County jail, charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, the sheriff's department said.
