UK recruit Gill-Caesar won't reclassify to 2014

Herald-Leader Staff ReportApril 9, 2014

Montaque Gill-Caesar's goal is to bring multiple skills to the court.

Huntington Prep star Montaque Gill-Caesar will remain in the class of 2015, Coach Rob Fulford told the Herald-Leader on Wednesday.

UK has been recruiting the 6-foot-6 prospect for more than a year, and he was seen as a possibility to reclassify to 2014 following this season. Instead, Gill-Caesar will return to Huntington Prep for one more season before heading to college.

Other top schools that have expressed interest in the Canada native include Michigan State, Kansas and Duke. He is considered a five-star recruit in the class of 2015.

If James Young and the Harrison twins leave UK for the NBA this year, the Wildcats will be thin in the backcourt next season. Those departures would make Dominique Hawkins the only returning scholarship guard to go along with incoming recruits Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker.

Gill-Caesar, who is listed as a small forward and plays on the wing, was seen as the most likely high school player to join UK’s class of 2014 until Wednesday’s announcement.

He will play for the Toronto-based CIA Bounce squad in the Nike EYBL this spring and summer.
