The Kentucky Board of Education on Wednesday approved a regulation governing a new statewide evaluation system for teachers and principals.

The Professional Growth and Effectiveness System is slated for statewide implementation this fall; it would be used for personnel decisions and become part of the state's assessment and accountability system in the 2015-16 school year.

The new evaluation system is now subject to a public hearing and legislative review.
