Couple indicted in oxycodone overdose death of 2-year-old son

April 10, 2014

A Carroll County grand jury issued indictments Monday against a couple in connection with the death of their 2-year-old son in February, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.

Douglas Allen, 26, and Amanda Foster, 28, of Ghent, were indicted on counts of murder, three counts of first-degree criminal abuse, two counts of transferring a controlled substance to a minor, tampering with evidence, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Bradley James Allen died Feb. 19. Foster, Allen's girlfriend and the victim's mother, called 911 and told dispatchers the child had been found dead in his bed.

A toxicology report showed that the boy had extremely high levels of Oxycodone in his system at the time of his death.

After talking to Allen, detectives suspected that he gave his son a Schedule II narcotic on the night of Feb. 18 leading to the child's death.

The grand jury also returned an indictment against Paul Byers, 50, of Ghent. Byers was indicted on charges of tampering with evidence, and first- and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
