Laurel County deputies arrested a man on a gambling charge and seized more than 20 illegal gambling machines Friday afternoon following an investigation.
Freddie Russell, 65, of Corbin, was arrested on a charge of promoting gambling second degree after deputies went to a location near the Lily community in Laurel County about 2 p.m. Friday, Sheriff John Root said.
The inquiry began after officers received several complaints that a gambling hall had opened for business in the community Thursday, the sheriff's department said.
Deputies seized the gambling machines from an establishment called Absolutely Auction. They also seized cash, poker chips and playing cards, the sheriff's department said.
