Final furlong

Racing Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado suffered a hairline fracture of the C-7 at the base of his neck in a training accident at Keeneland Thursday morning and will be out of action for at least 30 days. Prado and fellow jockey Jose Lezcano were both on horses for Brian Lynch working in company when, according to Lezcano's agent Jason Bidas "Jose's horse kind of hit the breaks and he got flung over the top and landed on his shoulder. Then Edgar's horse reared back with his head and clocked him in his face and knocked him out."

Lezcano took off his mounts Friday due to some bruising and body soreness but is slated to returning to riding on Saturday. Prado was scheduled to ride Vinceremos in Saturday's Blue Grass Stakes.

WinStar Farm president Elliott Walden said in a text message to the Herald-Leader that Julien Leparoux, who is named aboard also-eligible Divine Oath, will pick up the mount on Vinceremos if there are no scratches.

Graded stakes winner Reload was scratched out of Friday's Grade I Maker's 46 Mile after trainer Shug McGaughey said filling was discovered in the horse's right front leg.

"We're not sure what it is but we didn't want to take a chance (running Friday," McGaughey added.
