Man hospitalized after late-night shooting in Lexington

April 12, 2014

A man was injured in a shooting late Saturday outside a shopping center on Village Drive.

The man, who was not identified, was shot once in the leg and once in the shoulder, Lexington police Lt. Chris Spurlock said. He said he didn't know whether the injuries were life-threatening.

The shooting happened at about 10:45 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Salon De Fiestas MaryBrisa, where a birthday party was going on. El Cielo Bar is nearby.

Spurlock said police didn't know whether the victim had been at either establishment.

Police found several shell casings nearby. Spurlock said police were looking for two men.

Families with small children left the Salon De Fiestas MaryBrisa shortly after the shooting as police taped off the parking lot.
