A fatal fire in Beattyville over the weekend is now being investigated as a homicide, Kentucky State Police said Monday.

According to the Richmond KSP post, an autopsy confirmed that the victim, Martha Belle Hollar, 79, was deceased before her mobile home in Beattyville caught fire Friday night.

"Investigators with KSP are now investigating the fire and death as a murder," state police said in a press release Monday afternoon.

The fire occurred about 9:30 Friday night at 178 Main Street in Beattyville, state police said.

Troopers and members of the Lee County Fire Department searched the remains of the residence after the fire was extinguished Friday night, and found a body that was later identified as that of Hollar.

An autopsy was performed Saturday in Frankfort, state police said.
