Awards

■ Lt. j.g. Ryan S. Holman has been presented with the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for public service from October 2010 to September 2013 while serving at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C. Holman logged more than 1,500 hours of volunteer service with Charleston Calvary Church of the Nazarene. He is a 2005 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is married to Callie Holman, formerly of Irvine, and is the son of Alicia and Jeff Holman and the grandson of Hazel and Billy Holman, all of Lexington.

■ Staff Sgt. Shaun Holman recently reenlisted during a ceremony at the Pentagon with Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the Army chief of staff. Holman has served his country for the past 14 years and has been deployed three times. He is a career counselor at Fort Belvoir in Virginia and recently received the MDW Career Counselor of the Year Award. He is a 1999 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. He has a younger brother Ryan Holman, who is in the Navy.

Shaun Holman is married to Victoria Norred Holman and has two children, Isabella Marie, 8, and Victoria Alexandria, 1. He is the son of Alicia and Jeff Holman and the grandson of Hazel and Billy Holman, all of Lexington.

Elizabeth C. Minor has received an Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps scholarship. They are awarded on a merit system in areas such as academic achievement, extracurricular activities, physical fitness, specific performance or accomplishment, leadership abilities and personal interviews.

Minor is the daughter of Denise and Scott Minor of Lexington, and the sister of Jennifer Minor of Silver Spring, Md., and Sarah Minor of Glendale, Ariz. Elizabeth is a 2014 graduate of Henry Clay High School.

Graduations

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Matthew W. Sturgill has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo. He is the son of Angie and Joseph Wallace of Winchester and is a 2013 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School.

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Shakira Parks has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Parks is the daughter of Bradley Ann of Lexington. She is a 2013 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Justin Saylor has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Saylor is the son of Leah Privett of Junction City and Monty Saylor of Lexington. He is a 2011 graduate of Boyle County High School.

■ Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Errol S. Strauss graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas. Strauss earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Jon Strauss of Berea and the brother of Havala Cox of Louisville. The airman is a 2002 graduate of Madison Southern High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2009 from the University of Kentucky.

■ Army Pfc. Andrew J. Selover has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga., which consists of basic military training and advanced individual training. Selover is the son of Lori and Greg Selover of Berea. He is a 2013 graduate of Madison Southern High School.
