Discount movie theater at Lexington Green closes

One of Lexington's two discount movie theaters has closed.

Sunday was the last day of business for the eight-screen Cinemark Lexington Green Movies 8.

A representative of Langley Properties, which operates The Mall at Lexington Green, had no comment on the closing Monday, saying the company did not own the theater.

Cinemark opened the nearby 16-screen Fayette Mall Cinema in 2006 and converted the Lexington Green theater to an art-house multiplex the same year. Two years later, the location switched to a discount format.
