Final furlong

■ Trainer Mark Casse earned his first Keeneland meet title, winning two races on Friday's closing card to give him an 11-9 edge over Ken McPeek. Casse has been one of the more outspoken proponents of synthetic surfaces and his title comes in the final meet held before the track switches back to dirt in the fall. "I don't know of a much bigger honor than if we were able to be the leading trainer at Keeneland," Casse said in mid-April. "It would mean a lot to me."

■ Julien Leparoux earned his sixth Keeneland Spring Meet title and 10th Keeneland riding title overall, beating out Stewart Elliott 19-15 in wins.

■ John Oxley secured the title as the meet's leading owner with four victories. Ken and Sarah Ramsey, who set a Keene land record last Spring Meet with 25 wins, managed only three this meet tying them for second.
