A 46-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree assault for allegedly slashing a man's face with a kitchen knife.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Shawn J. Johnson was arrested late Sunday night, shortly after the assault in the 400 block of Chestnut Street.

The victim told police that he heard a knock on his door about 11:30 p.m. When he opened the door, a woman slashed his face with a steak knife, police said.

The victim was treated at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, police said.

Johnson was arrested later at Chestnut and Fifth Street, Roberts said.
