A gas leak at Fayette Mall that forced the evacation of a nearby bank and restaurant was fixed at about 2 p.m. Saturday, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Roberts said no one had been injured as a result of the gas leak.PNC Bank and Olive Garden Restaurant adjacent to the mall on Nicholasville Road were evacuated. The mall was not evacuated, but at one point, no additional people were allowed in, Roberts said.

Lexington Fire Battalion Chief Brian Wainscott said gas readings did not indicate a need to evacuate Fayette Mall.

The leak occurred when a construction crew working on the Sears demolition and remodeling struck a gas line about 11:46 a.m. said Wainscott.

For about two hours, traffic along Nicholasville Road was at a standstill.
