Woodford County: Chamber receives award; Archaeology Detectives program Saturday

The Woodford County Chamber of Commerce/s Twilight Festival has been named outstanding special event by Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives. The was among the awards given out during the group's annual spring conference recently in Frankfort.

The Twilight Festival features craft and food vendors, kids' activities, live music and horse demonstrations. This year's festival is scheduled Aug. 16 in downtown Versailles. For more information, go to Woodfordcountyinfo.com or call (859) 873- 5122.

Archaeology event scheduled at Jouett site

The Jack Jouett House Historic Site and Woodford County Heritage Committee will present Archaeology Detectives: Discovering Clues to Our Past at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Visitor Center, 255 Craig's Creek Road, Versailles. Archaeologist Nick Laracuente will conduct a walking tour of the historic site, pointing out features that provide clues about the construction of the buildings and farm landscape, and explaining the technology that was used.
