A woman was sexually assaulted by two men Tuesday night in a field off Versailles Road, Lexington police said.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said officers were sent about 9:30 p.m. to assist an ambulance crew with a woman who was having difficulty breathing.

Roberts said the woman told officers that she was walking through a field near the Sugar Mill Apartments, 1814 Versailles Road, when she was assaulted by two men.

Police said the two assailants were wearing white shirts, one with the word "Jesus" displayed on it.

The suspects disappeared behind a nearby church, and a police dog was unable to pick up a scent trail, Roberts said.

The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for evaluation, she said.
