A Lexington restaurant will be closing at its current location in about two weeks.

Rafferty's Restaurant & Bar at 2420 Nicholasville Road will close May 25 as the restaurant's lease expires, said Sammy Treesh, director of training. Rafferty's owners had hoped to keep the restaurant open there while a new building for the restaurant is built nearby, he said. He did not specify when or exactly where the new location will open.

The Nicholasville Road Rafferty's is one of two in Lexington. The other is in Hamburg.

Treesh said owners have offered current employees an option to transfer to another location while the new Rafferty's is being built.

Rafferty's is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Rafferty's, with corporate offices in Bowling Green, has 19 locations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, South Carolina and Georgia, according to the company's website.
