Kentucky women's tennis playing first NCAA match in five years

The University of Kentucky women's tennis team will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009 on Friday.

The Wildcats (16-11) take on Columbia (16-3) at 10 a.m. in Charlottesville, Va.

Friday's second first-round match at the University of Virginia pits Youngstown State (14-11) against Virginia (21-5).

The two winners meet Saturday at 3 p.m.

Kentucky, which received an at-large berth in the 64-team field, won six matches over ranked opponents this season.

The Wildcats are led by two ranked doubles teams in CeCe Witten and Caitlin McGraw (No. 40 in the nation) and Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi (No. 54).

Ravita is ranked 47th in singles.

Kentucky is making its 21st NCAA appearance. Friday will mark Columbia's first.
