A woman from Lebanon died in a wreck on U.S. 68 in Marion County on Friday afternoon.

Elizabeth Pittman, 36, was eastbound just inside the western city limits of Lebanon when she tried to pass another vehicle at 2:34 p.m., according to a news release from state police. Because of oncoming traffic, Pittman was not able to complete the pass, and she steered back into the eastbound lane. She lost control and dropped off the eastbound shoulder, then came back onto the road and rear-ended a tractor-trailer, state police said.

Pittman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Michael Brock, 58, of Berea, was not injured. U.S. 68 was closed for several hours as investigators reconstructed the crash.
