Eagle Scouts: Waldrop, Miller, Hanes awarded Eagle Scout

The following have been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank a Boy Scout can attain:

John Waldrop, 16, of Lexington, is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 93, sponsored by Christ the King Cathedral. John is a sophomore at Lexington Catholic High School and is the son of Jayne and Alex Waldrop. For his Eagle Scout project, John collected more than 2,000 books that were donated to the International Book Project. The IBP sends donated books to schools, libraries and Peace Corps volunteers around the world. John is the 14th Eagle Scout recipient in his family.

Mason Miller, 15, of Harlan, is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 149, sponsored by First Presbyterian Church of Harlan. Mason is a freshman at Harlan Independent High School and is the son of Stacey and Will Miller. For his Eagle Scout project, Mason researched and raised funding for Kentucky Historical Marker No. 2413 that was erected at the charter organization for establishing scouting in Harlan in 1912.

Chandler David Hanes, 16, of Georgetown, is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 215, sponsored by Georgetown First United Methodist Church. Chandler is a junior at Scott County High School and is the son of Cyndi Hanes and the late David Hanes. For his Eagle Scout project, Chandler repaired and stained picnic tables at Georgetown First United Methodist Church and also cleaned two flower beds at the church.
