Richmond man dies in moped crash

A Richmond man who was riding a moped died after a collision Tuesday afternoon.

Jarid V. Patterson, 40, drove the moped into the path of an oncoming Honda Accord while trying to turn left from Secretariat Drive onto Jacks Creek Road in Madison County just after 3 p.m., according to a news release from state police.

Patterson, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
