One man was hospitalized and two others were jailed after a shooting in Whitley County early Wednesday morning, Kentucky State Police said.

Mark A. Paul, 41, and Michael Skidmore, 39, both of Corbin, were charged with first-degree assault and were being held in the Whitley County jail, according to the London state police post.

The shooting victim, David C. Mcneil, 58, of Corbin, was listed in fair condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Police said troopers went to a home on Little Spruce Creek Road about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of a shooting.

They found Mcneil with gunshot wounds to both feet, police said.

Officers said an investigation revealed that Skidmore and Paul had gone to Mcneil's home and that an argument began.

The disagreement escalated, and Skidmore allegedly fired several shots, hitting Mcneil twice, police said.

Mcneil was treated at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, then he was flown to UK Hospital.

There was no immediate word on his condition.

The investigation is continuing.
