2 more charged with murder in fatal Knox County break-in

Herald-Leader Staff ReportMay 18, 2014

Two more people have been arrested and charged with murder in the May 9 fatal break-in at a home in Knox County, Kentucky State Police said Sunday.

That brings to four the number of people arrested and charged with murder in the death of Donald Mills, 29, of Scalf. Police said more arrests are pending.

Arrested at 3:54 p.m. Saturday were Elijah Messer, 30, of Dewitt and Angela Mills, 39, of Scalf. Both were being held in the Knox County jail.

On Friday, police arrested and charged Patrick B. Baker and Christopher Bradley Wagner, both 36, of London. They also are in the Knox County jail.

Police said two armed men claiming to be police officers forced their way through the front door of Mills' home. Mills struggled with one of them, who shot him, police said.

Mills's wife reportedly took him to Knox County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said on the day of the shooting that they didn't think Mills' home was targeted randomly. They said the intruders searched the house before leaving.
