Henry Clay beats Scott County for 42nd District title

May 20, 2014

Henry Clay won the 42nd District baseball title by beating No. 16 Scott County 4-1 Tuesday night.

The host Blue Devils came up clutch at the plate in the second inning when they strung together six consecutive hits with two outs.

Ben Rider got things rolling with a single. Blake Urbanek, Justin Warren, Cameron Lord, Sam Jiunta and Aaron McGeorge followed suit.

Warren's hit was a two-run double. He was 3-for-3 for the game, and had three RBI.

Rider had two hits and scored twice.

McGeorge did the job on the mound for Henry Clay.

The junior right-hander threw a complete-game four-hitter. He struck out four and walked six. He gave up an unearned run in the sixth.

Both teams advance to the 11th Region tournament at Western Hills next week.

Scott County was district runner-up last year, too, and made it to the region finals before falling to Tates Creek.
