The weather and water will be fine for holiday weekend

The forecast for Memorial Day weekend looks promising for the opening of Lexington's four family aquatic centers — Castlewood, 320 Parkview Avenue; Southland, 625 Hill-n-Dale Road; Tates Creek, 1400 Gainesway Drive; and Woodland, 190 Old Park Avenue — at noon Saturday.

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, the Southland pool will celebrate with the annual Poolapalooza. Admission is free.

Regular daily admission at most pools is $4 for ages 15 and younger, $5 for ages 16 and older.

All remaining city pools will open May 31.

Shaker Village hosts chamber music festival

The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass will again bring world-class classical music to the pastoral setting of Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg.

The festival's artistic directors, pianist Wu Han and cellist David Finckel, will be joined by an ensemble from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center — Gloria Chien, piano; Sean Lee and Kristin Lee, violin; Richard O'Neill and Yura Lee, viola; and Nicholas Canellakis, cello.

Free concert series adds a little Latin flavor

The free Summer Nights in Suburbia concerts continue Friday at MoonDance at Midnight Pass amphitheater with Appalatin, a Louisville-based sextet that plays Latin-infused roots music. The show is at 7 p.m. at 1152 Monarch Street, inside Beaumont Centre Circle.

'Dinner' is served for Balagula's season finale

On Sunday, Balagula Theatre opens its season-ending show, Dinner, Moira Buffin's black comedy about a dinner party from hell. The cast includes Laurie Genet-Preston, Robert Parks Johnson, Lisa Mendez and Robbie Morgan.
