Two roommates in Russell County exchanged gunfire early Monday, with one ending up in the hospital.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Trenni D. Chaney, 37, waved a handgun and shot at Steven Pigman, 43, who was sitting in a car. Pigman then retrieved a shotgun from the car and fired at Chaney, police said.

Chaney was injured and taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

The shooting took place outside a home the two shared on Murray Road in Jamestown.

No arrests have been made, and state police continue to investigate.
