Kentucky softball invites fans to celebrate season Sunday afternoon

Herald-Leader Staff ReportJune 1, 2014

The University of Kentucky softball team, which just completed the most successful season in program history by taking part in the Women's College World Series, has invited fans to celebrate that accomplishment with them Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats, who were eliminated from the World Series in Oklahoma City on Saturday night, will host a season celebration Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. at UK's John Cropp Stadium upon their return to campus

Fans will have the chance to meet and get autographs from the team and coaching staff and enjoy free ice cream. Admission and parking at John Cropp Stadium will be free of charge.

“Spending the last few weeks in California and Oklahoma, we have felt the Big Blue Nation’s support and it helped propel this team and our program to new heights,” UK Coach Rachel Lawson said. “I can think of no better way to celebrate the conclusion of the best season of softball the University of Kentucky has ever seen then by all of us being back together at John Cropp Stadium one last time.”
