A man told Lexington police that he chased away two people who broke into his motel room early Tuesday morning.

Police said it happened about 2:30 a.m. at the Horseshoe Motel, 917 Georgetown Road.

The two men entered the man's room, one of them armed with a gun, Lt. Raymond Roller said.

According to the man's account, he knocked the gun out of the assailant's hand, but the robber recovered it.

The robber and his accomplice fled after taking the victim's wallet and cellphone, according to police.

The man was treated at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for minor injuries, Roller said.
